Explosion At Bunker Storage Tank In Port Of Antwerp

An explosion of a solid waste storage bunker containing solvents happened at the industrial waste treatment plant in Port of Antwerp, Belgium.  The whole plant was burnt down during the fire and setting aflame a small quantity of stored chemicals.  

Firefighters saved the day by fighting the fire and keeping the other tanks around the area cool to avoid spreading of fire.  Also, the authorities have confirmed that the fire is completely under control and the cause of the fire remains unknown.

The area was covered by thick dark smoke and people living in the surroundings were advised by local authorities to have the windows closed to avoid inhaling toxins released by the blast.  However after investigation, the concentration of toxins in the smoke were declared non-harmful for human health.

Further investigations are still in place with the plant resuming duties partially.
