The strike by pilots and tugs in the Greek port of Piraeus began at 6:00 am local time (0400 GMT) Monday and was scheduled to last till 6:00 am on Wednesday.  The strike affected barge loadings from refineries.  It is  bound to create problems now.

The precautionary weekend loading of products by suppliers and the bunker deliveries were largely unaffected on Monday and Tuesday.  But, as volumes depleted, concerns grew whether deliveries would be workable for the next two days.  Businesses have to be cancelled as supply cannot be loaded from the refineries.

The question mark over the duration of the strike is also make many pessimistic.  The strike might also continue for another 48 hours Friday onwards.  But, there are people who keep their fingers crossed and hope issues to be resolved before the weekend.
