Reports say that fire erupted in one of the holds of a bulk carrier during cargo handling operations at Port of Brindisi, Italy. On March 12th, the Vessel was unloading coal in the port when the self-combustible cargo caught fire in one of the holds.
The City firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. Reports say that few tonnes of coal got damaged from the incident. Fortunately, the bulk carrier did not suffer any damage and the cargo handling operations continued smoothly after the incident.
There were no reports of injuries to people or damage to the environment from the incident. The local authorities have started investigating the accident.
