Floatplane Crash Kills Three People

In southwest Alaska, a floatplane carrying 10 people had crashed when taking off killing three and injuring the rest on board.  Cause for the crash had not yet been ascertained. The float plane belonged to a fishing lodge.

The accident occurred  near Eastwind Lake in the Alaskan city of Iliamna, 175 miles (281km) southwest of Anchorage.  Five of the  injured passengers were taken to Anchorage hospitals while the two other passengers were treated on site.  The Alaska Department of Public Safety officially confirmed the three people killed were from outside of Alaska, The plane was a De Havilland DHC-3 Turbine Otter on floats.  There was similar kind of crash in 2010 where  the same kind of plane was involved. Former Alaska Senator Ted Stevens was the victim.
