The passenger vessel, carrying 124 passengers and 51 crew members, ran aground for two hours as it departed from the port on Tuesday evening, confirmed Petty Officer 3 Jonard Abcede of the Philippine Coast Guard Nasipit.

Cebu Coast Guard Station Commander Agapito Bibat ordered the captain of the vessel,  Oliver Alguno to file a marine protest before the Maritime Industry Authority (Marina 7).  He also recommended that the vessel be subjected to underwater hull inspection to ensure its seaworthiness.

Following the incident, the management of the vessel also demanded an underwater inspection.  The underwater survey was conducted by the Marina-accredited underwater surveyor and witnessed by the Marina 7 safety engineer, after which the vessel resumed its voyage.
