The 106-gt ferry partially submerged in water after it started to take in water suddenly on Tuesday at the Diedrich shipyard in the port of Oldersum.

The vessel serves as an excursion boat, which was docked at the shipyard for maintenance. On the day of the incident, the 140-passenger vessel was about to leave the shipyard.  But a water leakage in the rear part of the vessel flooded the engine room which subsequently submerged in the water.

Pumps have been used to clear the water from the vessel. The loss is yet to be determined and the vessel will have to stay back at the yard for repairs, which may take 6 weeks time.

This news follows MFAME’s yesterday report on Greek-Flagged Ferry Sinking at Piraeus Port.
