Langh Ship marked a significant milestone with the keel laying ceremony for its first 1,200 TEU container vessel, named newbuilding no. H1038. The ceremony took place at the PaxOcean shipyard in Zhoushan, China, reports Offshore Energy.

Vessel Specifications

The 17,500 dwt newbuild boasts dimensions of 150 meters in length, 27 meters in width, and a draft of 8.75 meters.

Equipped with a two-stroke, slow-speed main engine for optimal fuel efficiency, complemented by a hybrid scrubber.

Ready for integration with Langh Tech’s carbon capture system and LanghBW Systems for ballast water management.

The main engine is designed to operate on biofuel when available on a larger scale. Prepared for shore power connection and a hybrid solution with batteries.

Versatile Cargo Handling

Optimized for carrying 45ft containers both in the holds and on deck, ensuring versatility and efficiency in cargo handling. Built to Finnish/Swedish ICE Class 1A standards.

Feeder Vessels Order and Delivery Timeline

Langh Ship ordered three feeder vessels from the Chinese shipbuilder in 2022, designed for container traffic in Europe.

The trio, named Ingrid, Lene, and Martta, is scheduled for delivery in August 2024, November 2024, and February 2025, respectively. Each unit has an estimated market value of about $20 million, according to VesselsValue.

Environmental Initiatives and Naming Ceremony

Langh Ship showcased its commitment to environmental sustainability with the naming ceremony for the second of three 7,800 dwt multipurpose ships.

The vessel, named Olivia, had its ceremony at Wuhu Shipyard in Ningbo, China, on January 22. The first multipurpose vessel, Lovisa, was delivered in November 2023, and the third sister vessel, Sofia, is expected to be delivered next month.
