Contract and Shipbuilding Partnerships

In June 2021, HMM formalized a contract to construct twelve 13,000 TEU containerships in collaboration with Hanwha Ocean and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries. Both partners are responsible for building six vessels each.

Environmental Enhancements with LNG-Ready Design

HMM aims to boost its environmental capabilities by introducing twelve new 13,000 TEU containerships. These vessels are designed to be LNG-ready, incorporating advanced energy-saving technologies to enhance fuel efficiency and reduce pollutant emissions.

Smart Ship Solutions for Real-Time Operations

The vessels feature a cutting-edge smart ship solution, transmitting all operational data in real time to HMM’s Fleet Control Center. This ensures comprehensive visibility over the ships, contributing to efficient operations.

Strategic Deployment on EC1 Route

Starting in February, HMM Garnet will operate on the East Coast 1 (EC1) route under THE Alliance’s product plan. The port rotation includes Kaohsiung, Xiamen, Yantian, Shanghai, Ningbo, Busan, Yantian, New York, Norfolk, Charleston, Savannah, and Singapore.

Capacity Expansion and Fleet Forecast

With the completion of twelve 13,000 TEU ships this year, HMM anticipates its fleet capacity to reach a total of 1 million TEUs. Notably, large containerships exceeding 10,000 TEU will constitute 80% of HMM’s entire fleet, enhancing cost structure and operational efficiency.

Symbolic Naming Convention

The twelve 13,000 TEU vessels will be named after birthstones from January to December, symbolizing HMM’s commitment to treating customers’ cargo as valuable as jewelry.
