The experience of travelling the world from the comfort of your own luxurious onboard home — including an $8 million two-story penthouse — is being offered by a residential cruise ship. The new residences will be sold aboard Storylines’ residential cruise ship, the 741-foot-long, 450-crew, 55,000-ton MV Narrative as reported by The Sacramento Bee.
Circuit the globe
According to Storylines Chief Executive Officer Alister Punton, the yacht would allow its on-board owners to circuit the globe every three and a half years, spending about three months in each geographical region and an average of three days in the ports of call. In an email to The Sacramento Bee, he said, “The locations are being decided with input from our resident owners as part of their global lifestyle.” “This is not like an around-the-world holiday cruise ship, which spends hours in each port and has numerous at-sea days to complete the journey in a few months.”
Apartment prices
With a plan to ‘follow the sun,’ the Narrative itinerary will be announced closer to sailing. According to Punton, there are 547 homes on board, ranging in size from 237 square feet to 1,970 square feet. The apartments range in price from around $300,000 for an inside studio to $8 million for a two-story penthouse, with only a few 12- and 24-year lease options available.
According to a Storylines spokesman, the homes are expected to sell out next year, and the ship is due to sail in 2024. The ship, which is presently being built in Croatia and will depart from that nation, has no home port, according to the spokesperson.
