In a huge embarrassment to the government of President Enrique Pena Nieto, a Mexican drug lord by name Joaquin Guzman, known as El Chapo, escaped the maximum security prison using an elaborate tunnel.

Since his arrest  in Guatemala in 1993, he had been serving a jail sentence of more than 20 years.

Once before he broke out of the prison by hiding in a laundry basket in 2001 and got recaptured by Mexican government in 2014.

It seems very unlikely that such prison breaks could have taken place without some form of inside help.

A manhunt has been launched to nab him.  If he is captured this time putting him back again in a Mexican jail doesn’t serve the purpose say critics.
