Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) announces a charter contract for the CTV SeaLoader 2 with Petrobras, Brazil’s state-owned oil company. This marks a milestone in maritime logistics, enhancing crude oil transfer efficiency.
Successful Trial and Charter Contract
SeaLoading’s CTV SeaLoader 2 completed over 30 crude oil offloading operations from Petrobras’ FPSOs in the Santos Basin, demonstrating its efficiency. Following successful trials, SeaLoader 2 entered a time charter contract with Petrobras in 2023.
Expansion Plans and Technological Superiority
SeaLoading’s memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Petrobras signals negotiations for a new building CTV by the end of 2024. With only two CTVs globally, both owned by SeaLoading, the company’s patented technology promises to revolutionize crude oil logistics, providing a direct transfer from FPSOs to crude oil tankers and significantly boosting operational efficiency.
