Two new agreements signed between Norwegian and Singaporean maritime stakeholders aim to advance sustainable solutions within the maritime sector, marking a significant step towards greener shipping in Asia.

Agreement 1: Letter of Intent for Electric Harbor Craft

The first agreement, a Letter of Intent (LOI), was signed by Lita Ocean, SeaTech Solutions International, Pascal Technologies, and Evoy at the Singapore Norway Innovation Conference (SNIC) 2024. This collaboration is focused on developing a fully electric, high-speed harbour craft tailored for Singapore’s unique maritime landscape. The vessel will incorporate advanced electric propulsion and air lubrication technologies to maximize energy efficiency and performance. These features are intended to improve the sustainability and efficiency of Singapore’s harbour operations.

Agreement 2: Memorandum of Understanding for Marine Electrification

A second agreement, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Yinson GreenTech and Evoy, also signed at SNIC, aims to promote marine electrification across Asia. This partnership will focus on converting internal combustion engine (ICE) vessels to electric power and developing new electric vessels. Yinson GreenTech’s expertise in electrification combined with Evoy’s electric propulsion technology is expected to drive the transition to electric-powered vessels in Asia’s maritime industry.

Impact on Sustainable Maritime Transition in Asia

Evoy highlighted that the partnership with Yinson GreenTech is a crucial step in advancing sustainable maritime practices, with shared goals of exploring opportunities, collaborating on projects, and fostering the broader shift toward greener shipping solutions in Asia.

Mads Roland-Glimsholt, Business Development Manager at Evoy, emphasized the company’s commitment to greener maritime solutions, stating:

“As a proud partner in this Norway-Singapore initiative, Evoy is excited to bring our high-performance electric propulsion systems to Singapore’s maritime landscape. We are committed to setting new standards in sustainable harbour craft and working with our partners to support a greener future in maritime transport.”

These partnerships underscore the growing alignment between industry stakeholders in Norway and Singapore on advancing maritime decarbonization, showing a shared commitment to sustainable shipping solutions in the region.
