The captain of a merchant vessel issued a distress call including a request for the treatment of a patient suffering from a seizure.  On receiving the distress call, the Maritime Security Centre, within the framework of its duties, coordinated with Royal Air Force Of Oman to evacuate the suffering crew.

A Super Lynx helicopter evacuated the crew member from the vessel and transferred the patient to the Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah for treatment.  According to the reports, the vessel was coming from Bandar Abbas port in Iran and heading to Barcelona, Spain, when the incident happened in about 60 nautical miles East of the Salalah Port.
