Panam LNG Bunkering, a subsidiary of AES Corporation, has invited shipping companies to file their expressions of interest to be its customers for LNG bunkering operations in Panama. Operations are set to start in March 2025, reports Offshore Energy.
Expression of Interest (EOI)
On October 28, Panam LNG Bunkering notified shipping agents, vessel owners, and operators of LNG-powered vessels transiting the Panama Canal or coming to Atlantic ports in Panama. The company welcomes prior discussions with interested parties to consider the terms of any potential contracts, secure bunkering slots, and negotiate such terms as scope of service, operational details, supply logistics, and pricing.
Submission Deadline and Agreement Timeline
The deadline to submit EOI is November 15, 2024. Formal agreements are expected to be closed in January 2025.
Commencement of LNG Bunkering Operations
LNG bunkering operations are expected to commence in March 2025. This Panam LNG Bunkering initiative is designed to accommodate increasing demand for LNG as an alternative, cleaner fuel for vessels transiting through the Panama Canal.
Partnership with Seaspan Energy
A very recent initiative – Panam LNG Bunkering – was launched by AES Corporation in partnership with Seaspan Energy to provide exclusive LNG bunkering services within the Panama registry. Under this venture, the company would deploy its new 7,600 cubic-meter LNG bunkering vessel, Seaspan Garibaldi, which recently set sail for Vancouver to take on its first cargo and complete commissioning before entering service.
