25-Year Plan: Peel Ports and E.ON have outlined a comprehensive 25-year plan aimed at progressively reducing emissions. This strategy involves various initiatives, starting with the installation of solar panels and extending to the repowering of existing wind turbines along the River Mersey.
Environmental Impact and Future Phases
Emission Reduction and Expansion: The initial phase focuses on installing 63,000 solar panels across 26 buildings at the Port of Liverpool, significantly cutting CO2e emissions and paving the way for future phases. The subsequent phase includes replacing existing wind turbines with larger ones, with the ultimate goal of powering the port entirely through renewable energy sources.
