RightShip and ZeroNorth Partner to Enhance Maritime Emissions Management

87

RightShip, a leading global ESG-focused digital maritime platform, has announced a partnership with ZeroNorth, a leader in data-driven maritime optimization. This collaboration allows users of either platform to visualize and utilize RightShip’s GHG 2.0 Rating and Safety Score alongside ZeroNorth’s advanced CII Emissions Analytics solution. The goal is to provide users with a comprehensive view of their performance, facilitating enhanced decision-making aimed at achieving zero-harm outcomes efficiently and effectively.

Advanced Emissions Analytics

ZeroNorth’s CII Emissions Analytics solution is tailored to help shipping companies optimize their operations in line with CII requirements while maintaining commercial performance. It offers full insights into both fleet and vessel CII performance and proactively alerts operators or managers when a vessel risks becoming non-compliant in the future.

RightShip’s GHG 2.0 Rating

RightShip’s GHG 2.0 Rating evaluates the emissions output of commercial vessels on a scale from A (most efficient) to E (least efficient). This rating system, used as an industry standard, incorporates EEXI values alongside EVDI and EEDI by calculating and comparing a vessel’s designed efficiency against peer vessels of similar size and type using a speed-corrected methodology.

Regulatory Context and Industry Impact

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations mandate that ship owners reduce their carbon emissions to achieve net-zero emissions for international shipping by around 2050. Additionally, the introduction of the EU’s Emissions Trading Scheme for maritime operators underscores the importance of effective emissions management and reduction, making it a key challenge for the sector in 2024.

Leadership Insights

Steen Lund, CEO of RightShip, commented on the partnership: “By integrating ZeroNorth’s CII insights with RightShip’s GHG rating, we are ensuring that the RightShip platform provides our users with the most comprehensive risk and environmental management solution available for the maritime industry. Collaboration is essential to achieving a decarbonized future for the sector, and this partnership supports our customers in improving their environmental performance through transparency, ensuring that the key tools in driving maritime decarbonization aren’t used in isolation.”

Nicolai Bendixen, Managing Director of Charter at ZeroNorth, added: “Together, we are empowering charters, owners, and all stakeholders in the maritime value chain with immediate, actionable insights into the emission profiles of vessels. This integration ensures compliance with evolving environmental regulations and equips our customers to make informed decisions that align with their sustainability goals. At ZeroNorth, we are proud to stand at the forefront of this transformative journey, alongside RightShip, as we navigate towards a greener, more sustainable maritime future.”
