Safety Violations Gets Bulk Carrier into Trouble

USCG inspectors detained the Japanese Bulker after they found a disabled fire-extinguishing system in the engine room of the 751-foot vessel.

Reasons For Detention:

  • Port state control officers discovered that the automatic fire extinguishing system that protects the vessel’s engine room had been disabled by the crew.
  • The vessel owners failed to ensure appropriate corrective measures.

The ship may be detained till the safety breach is addressed appropriately.
