Coast Guard, said they received a call Tuesday night around 10 p.m. from a witness who thought someone might have fallen into the water as a result of the collision.

Police expanded on the details Wednesday, saying they received reports of a boat that was travelling at high speed and then hit the container ship MSC Diego.

Someone on the ship told police that he felt the collision and thought he saw one or two people fall from the speedboat into the water.
