Suez Canal Reduces Cruise Ship Transit Fees

Suez authority mandate

The Suez authority has made it mandatory for passenger ships and tourist ships to stop for at least 72 hours in Egyptian ports on the Mediterranean and Red Seas.

The authority says, if the time is between 24 and 74 hours, the percentage reduction is computed by dividing 50% of the number of shipping hours by 72 hours (the stopover hours) in the ports.

The authority confirmed that a reduction of up to 50 percent of the normal transit fees for both outbound and return trips will be granted to cruise ships carrying passengers only.

Calculation method

The authority stated during the event on Thursday that the time spent by passenger ships at Red Sea ports is less than half of the time spent in Egyptian ports, which is a minimum of 12 hours.

The reduction percentage is determined by double the time spent in Egyptian ports on the Red Sea. The reduction has been implemented. not based on the total tonnage, Which states that more than 300 tonnes were previously published in an article in Egypt Independent.

The Suez authority’s effort will boost the country’s economy and tourism. This results in an automatic increase in development.
