Early Saturday, Coast Guard reported that an 86-foot tugboat and a 135-foot barge it was towing both ran aground off Brigantine.
The tug boat reportedly lost power before running aground on the south end of the beach and the barge that remained attached to the tugboat is also stuck on the north jetty at Absecon Inlet.
A Coast Guard official reported no injuries or environmental impact, adding that ocean and wind conditions were too unsafe yesterday to remove the vessels.
As of last night, plans were underway to remove both vessels at high tide this morning.
