The Indian Cobra which was rescued from a container ship died at Bronx Zoo.
The snake was found in a container ship which was bound for New Jersey on December 10th. The worried crew members informed the zoo authorities, from where two herpetologists rescued the snake from the ship.
The reports state that the snake in the ship was found in a very poor condition and was brought to the Bronx Zoo.
Officials at the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo say the snake was in poor condition and could not be nursed back to health.
The Zoo director, Jim Breheny, said that the snake did not prey for several weeks and veterinarians did what they could to save the snake but they did not succeed. He added that : “zoo officials are disappointed the snake has died.”
