At the Cool Logistics Global event in Genoa, Valencia port took the stage to highlight its prowess in handling frozen and refrigerated cargo. The port’s infrastructure, known for its capacity and agility, proves to be the essential ally for companies engaged in cold import-export operations.

Cold Cargo by the Numbers

Cristina Rodríguez, the head of Commercial and Customers at the Port Authority of València (PAV), presented compelling statistics at the event. In the 2022 financial year, Valencia port managed a staggering 3 million tonnes of refrigerated products, including fruits, vegetables, meat, and fish. The port’s significance is underscored by its 3,250 reefer connections, distributed among major players such as CSP Iberian (Cosco), APM (Maersk), and MSC Terminal.

Supporting Infrastructure

Valencia port’s refrigerated cargo capabilities are bolstered by dedicated facilities. The Americold Valencia warehouse, boasting 16,000 square meters exclusively for refrigerated logistics, plays a crucial role. Additionally, the 17,000 square meter Border Control Post (PCF) ensures swift inspections in less than 45 minutes, promoting efficient handling of refrigerated containers.

Cristina Rodríguez also emphasized Valencia port’s role as a vital “hub” for reefer product companies.
