Wärtsilä To Supply Cargo Handling Systems For New Solvang Vessels

Wärtsilä Gas Solutions, a division of Wärtsilä, has been chosen to provide Cargo Handling Systems for two new very large LPG carrier vessels.

The vessels are to be constructed at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co Ltd in South Korea for Norwegian ship owner Solvang.

This contract follows a previous one in 2023 for five vessels at the same yard for the same owner, reports Wärtsilä.

Next Generation Eco-Vessels

The VLGCs are of Panamax size and represent the next generation of eco-vessels.

They will have a cargo carrying capacity of 88,000 m3 and will integrate environmental technology developed through Solvang’s ECO LPG Carrier program.

Continued Partnership with Solvang and HHI

Wärtsilä’s cargo handling systems were chosen for their efficiency and reliability, following a successful partnership with Solvang and HHI.

Delivery Schedule

Wärtsilä’s equipment is slated for delivery to the yard starting in mid-2025. The first ship is expected to begin operations by mid-2027.
