[Watch] Bulk Carrier Destroys Panama Canal River Railway Bridge

Bulk carrier BLUEBILL destroyed a river railway bridge in the Panama Canal, reports Maritime Bulletin. 

What happened?

Bulk carrier BLUEBILL collided with Chagres river railway bridge in Panama Canal at around 1740 UTC Jun 23. 

The ship was said to be transiting Canal from Pacific to Atlantic, en route from South Korea. 

Damages reported

Authorities said that the trains movement will be restored only after 16 days as the bridge got severely damaged. 

The ship is said to be anchored and traffic remains unaffected. No information on the ship’s damages.
