[Watch] Explosion and Fire in Chemical Tanker

An explosion damaged the chemical tanker and injured two crew members on Yangtze River, 20 May, reports Splash 247.

What happened?

The 2018-built chemical tanker Qiu Feng 6 was sailing near Wuhu on the Yangtze River when the incident occurred.

The below video shows the crew possibly washing the tank when the explosion happened.

Any injury or damage reported?

Three crew who jumped into the water were later picked up by a rescue team. Two other crew were injured and were sent to hospital for emergency treatment. The rest of the four crew members onboard remained unharmed.

Investigation triggered

The fire triggered by the explosion was put out and authorities have started investigations into the cause of the incident.

The vessel is owned by Yangzhou Yuhua Shipping, which mainly operates ships carrying hazardous cargo on the Yangtze.
