[Watch] How Two Guys Escaped the Scuttling of the ‘Vis’

3791

After long struggle to get all necessary permissions, ex-Yugoslav Navy command ship VIS of 662 tons displacement was finally scuttled for recreational diving purposes off Polje cove near Cape Kamenjak, Istrian peninsula, Croatia.

Watch the video of the Vis’s final moments that shows two men aboard the ship’s stern, a section left mercifully intact by the two powerful explosions that tear through the hull in quick succession.

Precisely what the fellows were doing there is unclear, with their presence apparently totally overlooked by the local media, whose coverage was otherwise thorough to the utmost degree.

The pair managed to beat a retreat, however, scrambling onto the decks of a waiting ship as the wreck of the Vis made its way to the bottom of the sea, 35m down off Cape Kamenjak.
