Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry (XSI) launched an LNG-powered Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) for BoComm Leasing and a joint venture led by Cosco Shipping, LNG Prime.
Vessel Details
The vessel, named XSI463C, has a capacity of 7,500 ceu and features LNG dual-fuel technology.
Delivery Date
The expected delivery of the vessel is scheduled for July.
Milestone Achievement
This marks the first launch of Guangzhou Ocean Car Carrier’s new build among the 24 LNG dual-fuel car carriers ordered, ranging from 7,000 to 8,600 ceu.
Vessel Specifications
The launched PCTC measures 199.9 meters in length, and 38 meters in width, and boasts 13 car decks.
Collaborative Efforts
XSI and Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding, both part of the Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group, are jointly constructing 12 LNG-powered PCTCs to serve the JV.
Expansion Plans
Guangzhou Ocean Car Carrier Transportation aims to expand its fleet to 24 LNG-powered PCTCs by 2026, with an order placed for three more vessels with a capacity of 7,000 units at China’s Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI).
Delivery Timeline
The JV anticipates receiving six new builds in 2024, followed by 11 vessels in 2025 and seven vessels in 2026.
Route Expansion
With the addition of new capacity, the company plans to gradually extend its route coverage to Europe, South America, Mexico, Australia, and other regions.
