Terntank, a leader in environmental sustainability within the maritime industry, has placed an order for 1+1 next-generation oil and chemical tankers with wind-assisted propulsion and dual-fuel engines. This investment underscores the company’s dedication to pioneering advancements in clean shipping technologies.

Commitment to Sustainable Practices

Terntank’s latest order signifies its unwavering commitment to sustainable shipping practices. By integrating wind-assisted propulsion and dual-fuel engines capable of operating on various eco-friendly fuels, including biofuels and methanol, the company is poised to significantly reduce environmental impacts and advance sustainable maritime transport.

Driving Environmental Responsibility

The investment in next-generation dual-fuel tankers aligns with Terntank’s broader strategy to drive environmental responsibility. By leveraging innovative features such as Hybrid Solution Plus® technology, which includes a methanol-powered engine, a hybrid battery system, and on-shore power capabilities, Terntank aims to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants while maximizing energy efficiency.

Advancing Towards Net-Zero Emissions

Terntank’s new builds program, informed by insights from previous vessels, promises substantial CO2 emission reductions and positions the company closer to achieving its net-zero ambition. With an Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) well below the 2025 Phase 3 requirements and the capability to operate on advanced low GWP fuels, such as green methanol and e-methanol, these vessels play a crucial role in realizing Terntank’s zero-emission goal by 2040. Moreover, the vessels’ design optimizes bio feedstock and finished goods transport, further supporting customer sustainability goals.
