Brand New Boxship Collides With Bulker

A brand new container ship collided with a bulk carrier in Hong Kong waters, reports Maritime Bulletin.

What happened?

Collision took place at night Nov 17, both ships were under way, but the container ship was restricted by oncoming container ship on her portside, and couldn’t swing to port as it was required by circumstances, to avoid collision.

She reportedly suffered heavy damages in bow section, and probably, will be taken to shipbuilding yard in Taiwan, for repairs.

Understood bulk carrier was also seriously damaged, since Nov 17 she’s moving in legs in rather hectic manner in waters south of Hong Kong – Macau line.
