Collision on the Rhine River

On March 7, two vessels were involved in a collision in the Rhine River and both the vessel sustained damages during the incident.

What happened?

The vessel ‘Stolt Florence’ enroute form Dormagen, sailing upstream on the Rhine was involved in a collision with a barge ‘Tyro’.

Both the vessel were sailing in the opposite direction when they collided with each other. The collision occurred at the height of Lobith near Tolkamer.

Sustained damages

Both the vessels sustained considerable damages and were taken to the port if Tolkamer for further repairs. The barge sustained damages to its port side and suffered damages to the wheelhouse as well as the cargo hatch and the hull where bollards were broken out.

Fortunately, none of the crew members onboard the vessels were injured in the collision incident. Investigations have been initiated to determine the sequence of events leading to the attack.
