Dutch And German Cargo Ships Collide In Lower Weser

An upstream collision of general cargo ships occurs as reported by Fleetmon.

Ships for general cargo On May 15, about 0010 UTC, WALTER HAMMANN and DAGNA crashed in the Lower Weser, upstream from Nordenham, Germany. The Dutch ship DAGNA was travelling upstream to Brake, while a German coaster from Bremen was sailing downstream. 

Damages sustained 

WALTER HAMMANN sustained bow breaches or severe dents, while DAGNA’s starboard hull also incurred breaches or dents, according to reports. 

WALTER HAMMANN allegedly struck DAGNA STB at a 90-degree angle. No leaks or water ingress have been detected. According to reports, the WALTER HAMMANN has already docked at the Bremerhaven shipyard. DAGNA arrived at Brake and, after completing the cargo operation, travelled to Bremerhaven, where she was moored on May 17.
