Mauritius, a place where honeymooners can be spotted, has witnessed this week something which is really worrisome.

MFAME reported about the mutiny and brawl which caused the bulker to ground on June 18th followed by an update where oil spilled from the grounded bulker in the coast of Mauritius.

Here is an update on this tragic incident where the grounded bulker ‘Benita’ has suffered severe damage and flooding.  The salvage company ‘Five Oceans Salvage’ has commented that their main efforts are being channelled to remove the fuel from the grounded bulker where several cargo holds has suffered extensive damage.  This has lead to subsequent flooding of the holds and the salvage team’s priority is to remove 145 tons of fuel from the grounded bulker.

“This oil is currently being pumped from the fuel tanks to specialised containers on the vessel that will then be removed to shore by helicopter,” a report said.
