The use of Maersk’s alternative fuels is estimated to reduce GHG footprint by more than 80% compared to conventional fossil fuels

Climate-Positive Partnership

Inditex, the fashion conglomerate behind Zara and Massimo Dutti, teams up with Maersk to slash seaborne logistics emissions. Maersk’s ECO Delivery Ocean initiative substitutes fossil fuels with green alternatives like green methanol and second-gen biodiesel, aiming for an 80%+ GHG reduction.

Customers can opt for eco-friendly shipping with fixed costs, receiving externally verified certificates and EU Emissions Trading System exemptions through Maersk.

Through this joint initiative with Maersk, we are making significant strides in reducing emissions associated with our sea freight. This project aligns with our goal to reach net zero emissions in 2040 and contributes to scale alternative fuels with a significant reduced carbon footprint.

ECO Delivery

You can take pride in being one of our inaugural customers, allocating 100% of your Maersk ocean inbound cargo to our ECO Delivery solution, which guarantees substantial GHG emission cuts through green fuels.

Right now, Maersk experiences that the demand for the very low GHG emission product ECO Delivery is high and very dynamic. “A lot of customers are asking us for a solution to reduce their scope 3 emissions, and the first customers are buying this premium solution for their whole cargo under Maersk Bill of Lading now. We are happy to serve this demand with ECO Delivery on an instant basis”, Emilio de la Cruz adds.

Both Inditex and Maersk share the goal of achieving net-zero status by 2040, with Inditex utilizing ECO Delivery and collaborating on a rail solution pilot in southern Spain to advance their joint decarbonization efforts.
