Overload Carrier Capsized And Sank In Red Sea

On the evening of June 11, while about to depart port, the livestock carrier AL BADRI 1 capsized and sank along the pier at Suakin Port, Sudan, Red Sea, says an article published in Maritime Bulletin.

Above waterline

The ship with some 16,000 cattle on board is resting starboard on bottom, remaining partially above waterline. 

Cause of capsizing

Overload is said to be most probable cause of capsizing, because the ship’s permissible max load is 8,000 cattle.
