On October 29, during an inspection by the water police in Brunsbüttel a vessel was found to be guilty of causing water pollution.
What happened?
The vessel ‘Kestrel 1’ was docked at the Elbe port and during a routine inspection by the water police station Brunsbüttel was found to guilty of causing water pollution.
Sewage discharged at Sea:
During inspection, it was found that the vessel did not have a fully functional sewage plant onboard and it had reportedly discharged about 500 liters of insufficiently purified wastewater into German territorial waters.
The waste had been discharged when the vessel was enroute from Huelva to Brunsbüttel. The concerned officials filed a lawsuit for water pollution and directed the vessel to pay a security deposit of $265.
