Sister Nirmala, the nun who carried forward Mother Teresa’s legacy of compassion, gentleness and service to the poorest of the poor passed away at the age of 81.
Sister Nirmala took over and ran the charity for 12 years after Mother Teresa died in 1997 and handed it over to Sister Mary Prema in 2009. Even after her retirement, she served the people with the same zeal as she did before.
She was suffering from various ailments and passed away in Kolkata (Calcutta), India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, led the tributes to the deceased nun.
