Tanker was in Danger of Sinking

On July 14, a tanker suffered water ingress in the engine room and suffered a blackout.

What happened?

The tanker ‘T.Caroline’ was enroute from the Aliağa district to Mersin when it suffered a water ingress in the engine room in the Aegean Sea.

The ship was three miles away from the coast of Kuşadas when it suffered a massive blackout and was in danger of sinking.

Tugs dispatched

The captain of the stricken vessel raised an alarm for assistance and was responded by the Kusadasi and Aliağa Harbor port captaincies.

The tanker was taken in tow by the tugs ‘T. Damla 3’ and ‘T. Damla 4’ which provided assistance to the stricken vessel.

The ship is currently moored at sea and the Aydin Metropolitan Municipality Maritime Department and the Fire Department provided additional submersible pumps for pumping the water from the tanker.

Situation under control

The situation was brought under control and none of the crew members onboard the vessel were injured during the incident.
