Wan Hai Lines recently held a naming ceremony for three new eco-friendly 3,055 TEU containerships. Built by Japan Marine United Corporation TSU Shipyard, these vessels signify the company’s commitment to sustainability, reports Offshore Energy.
Series Expansion
This ceremony marks the addition of the sixth, seventh, and ninth vessels in Wan Hai’s 3,055 TEU series.
Wan Hai previously ordered a total of twelve vessels in this series from Japan Marine United Corporation.
Environmental Features
The vessels use low-sulfur fuel oil (LSFO) and incorporate new energy-saving equipment for enhanced efficiency.
All ships are certified with “Smart Ship” notations, reflecting Wan Hai’s focus on eco-friendly shipping services.
Carbon Reduction Targets
Wan Hai has set ambitious carbon reduction goals, aiming for a 50% reduction in fleet carbon intensity by 2030 compared to 2008 levels.
The company has already achieved a 5.2% reduction in fleet CO2 emissions intensity compared to the previous year, representing a significant decrease since 2008.
Continued Commitment
The naming ceremony follows Wan Hai’s recent eco-friendly initiatives, including the introduction of a new 13,000 TEU containership earlier this year.
These efforts demonstrate Wan Hai’s ongoing commitment to fleet upgrading and sustainable shipping practices.
