Titan LNG’s Bunkering Pontoon Performs First in Rotterdam Port

1961

Titan LNG announced that its new LNG bunker barge FlexFueler001 Pontoon has completed its first bunkering operation in Rotterdam port on 14 June 2019, says an article published in LNG World News.

Accredited to deliver by inland water barge

LNG was supplied to the company’s long-term customer Norlines in the Port of Rotterdam, said Titan LNG.

This makes Titan LNG the first accredited LNG bunker supplier able to deliver by inland water barge.

FlexFueler series

The FlexFueler001 is part of a series of vessels. It’s successor, the FlexFueler002, which is currently under construction will be made available by the fall of 2020.

LNG will release the vessel in the Port of Antwerp and the third barge will be announced in the coming months.

Reliable LNG supply

Samskip is the operator of the LNG-powered Norlines vessels Kvitnos and Kvitbjørn. It has a weekly service into Rotterdam and requires reliable LNG supply.

Ronald van Selm, COO of Titan LNG, said: “We are proud the FlexFueler001 is up and running after she successfully completed her trials.”

Class Approval from Bureau Veritas

Titan LNG received class approval from Bureau Veritas for the FlexFueler001 at the start of June.

FlexFueler001 is equipped to have a fixed location to supply inland waterway vessels, yet it can also navigate to larger sea-going vessels and safely supply LNG while they load or unload their cargo.

Long term contract signed

A long-term contract was signed between Port of Amsterdam and Titan LNG in January 2018.

The contract signed was pertaining to the home location of the FlexFueler001.
