The 1,112-foot “Freedom of the Seas” set out on a seven-night cruise starting from Port Canaveral, Florida, on Sunday 19th July 2015.  A small fire broke out in a mechanical space in the Miami-based Royal Caribbean cruise ship when it arrived in Falmouth, Jamaica, on Wednesday 22nd July 2015.  The fire accident which caused burn injuries to one of the crew members was promptly put out using the on-board fire fighting equipment.  As a precautionary step, the passengers on-board were instructed to go to evacuation assembly stations.

None of the passengers were injured and the injured crew member was treated for burn injuries.  The ship, currently docked at Falmouth, has confirmed that all its systems are under control and is operating normally.
