Enroute from Tanjung Pelepas, where she had sailed on Jan 23, 2017, to Algericas the “Merete Maersk” suffered a collapse of container racks stored at the port side stern. The containers were lost in the Mediterranean on Feb 6, north of Skikda.
Report says nearly 43 containers were lost, 85 were damaged. 16 containers were spotted drifting off the Algerian coast. Several boxes shifted or were smashed. The ship berthed at the TTI Algericas on Feb 9 at 4.20 p.m.
