What happened?

Container caught fire after explosion in cargo hold of container ship docked at Ben Nghe, Ho Chin Minh, Vietnam, in the afternoon Sep 4.

According to reports, fire occurred after welding workers performed maintenance near the container cellar.

At 8:45 a.m. on September 4, the cargo ship was docking at Ben Nghe port (HCMC) when fire suddenly appeared in the tunnel.

Fire under control

Ben Nghe port border guard station coordinated with Khanh Hoi port border gate station and district 7 fire police to control the fire after 30 minutes.

Welding and maintenance work

According to Captain Nguyen Tan Hung, the fire came from a container containing packaging in the hold of the ship.

In the morning of the same day, the ship had welding and maintenance work near the container cargo hold, a moment later there was an explosion and a fire appeared.
