Development and Collaboration
“K” Line Wind Service, Ltd., Japan Marine United Corporation, and Nihon Shipyard Co., Ltd. collaborated to develop a multi-functional floating offshore wind farm support vessel (MFSV), reports Class NK.
The vessel aims to efficiently conduct mooring works for floating offshore wind turbine installation, including transportation, deployment, and anchor tensioning of the mooring system.
Multi-functional Concept
The MFSV is designed with a multi-functional concept, providing versatile solutions for various phases of offshore wind projects.
It offers capabilities for survey, transportation, construction, and operation & maintenance of offshore wind installations.
Design Review and Compliance
ClassNK conducted a design review of the MFSV based on its rules for work-ships and the SPS Code.
Additionally, compliance with the IP Code, effective from July 2024, was ensured.
Upon confirming compliance with requirements, ClassNK issued the Approval in Principle (AiP).
Contribution to Renewable Energy Expansion
ClassNK’s certification activities contribute to the further expansion of renewable energy.
The development of this vessel concept was subsidized by Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) as part of the Green Innovation Fund Project.
