Trafigura, a global commodity trading group, orders two environmentally friendly VLCCs from Chinese shipyard Jiangsu New Hantong.

The vessels, totaling 319,000 tons each, will meet the latest IMO environmental and energy efficiency standards, reports Offshore Energy.

Design and Construction

Advanced technology will be utilized to ensure compliance with international ship regulations.

Strict adherence to environmental protection guidelines and energy efficiency measures.

Delivery Schedule

Scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2026. Represents Jiangsu New Hantong’s debut in the VLCC market, consolidating its position in global shipbuilding.

Trafigura’s Green Shipping Goals

Aim to have six zero-emission green ammonia-fuelled vessels in its fleet by 2030. Collaboration with MAN Energy Solutions to develop ammonia marine engines.

Impact on Fleet

Six green ships would constitute approximately 18% of Trafigura’s current fleet.

Trafigura manages 30 owned vessels and oversees nearly 360 ships, responsible for over 5,000 voyages annually.
